I have been excelling technically at combining connections of audio and video development by researching innovative ways to make independent software interact with other programming during interactive experience sessions. Looking back on my Master’s year’s work to date, after extensive technical involvement, I find that I am re-discovering my passion for sonic art. I hope that it will merit acclaim when presented to a critical academic audience. Ideally my artistic creation will result in an in-depth, intuitive and fully comprehensive piece of work supported by underlying scientific proceedings. I have evaluated each audio experiment undertaken to consider limitation, improvement and potential for use in a creative production. In view of this I need to consider how I publish my own synthesizer designs. In the case I examined copyright was breached (See blog 10th October 2014). This triggered me to consider how copyright laws affect filter designs and possible loopholes. I particularly found it difficult to accept the idea that non-disclosure of professional synthesizer designs always ensures that copyright is protected. The ideas or principals in many cases needed deeper exploration to find specific evidence that they could become a valuable part of my work. This really had the “wow” factor for me.ĭuring my background research into practical use of filters I was surprised to find that there are many theories that should not be accepted at face value. For example auditory experiments using my portable laptop device as it enabled me to bring together technical software in unison with external and virtual audio sources on the go. I enjoyed using new techniques for augmented reality in music production and media environments as I had the opportunity to develop effective sound solutions and apply new creative ideas. I really found certain audio experiments exciting. My activity in writing and posting regular blogs has predominantly helped me to analyse my personal research findings, current production trends, introduction of new ideas, and to particularly assess my current practice.
